2. Discipline, commitment and consistency. They come to the point where they don’t need to be reminded to do their “job”.
They train themselves to become zealous and consistent in doing their “job”. Yes, discipline is essential if you must rise to academic greatness. You have to train yourself to become consistent and committed to the course of achieving excellence. This translates into repeated efforts in studying, attending classes, doing assignments, healthy discussions etc. Reading is not ‘beans’! It requires discipline. Discipline is to know what to do and to do it without being reminded or supervised! It means deciding continuous practise! You need to be DISCIPLINED! You have to consciously decide to give up something to read! Make the decision now that nothing will hinder you from reading no matter what!
Consistency is to me, the greatest success secret. It will always wear out resistance. It will make you habitually successful. Like Aristotle would say: “we are what we repeated do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit”. It is consistency that will make you read over and over again till it becomes properly internalized. It’s time to become consistent in what you do. Don’t just do it today and tomorrow and leave it till another month. Consistency and persistency will always wear out resistance! You must not give excuses. Excuse + excuse + excuse = excuses! It will never equal to results! You must grow to stop giving excuses and start becoming responsible for your actions and inactions. “The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you choose, what you think and what you do is who you become”. – Heraclitus.
